As you probably know, people’s reaction to a generic thank you letter is usually “meh.” There are just so many thank you cards floating around the office! So how do you make your personal note different? How do you make it stand out from the crowd?

It all starts with the personal touch. Let’s face it, it’s easier to write an email than it is to write a personal note. In fact, the competition is so stiff these days that companies have to give a lot of thought to every detail.

The employee who wrote the most heartfelt note will not be more important than the employee who wrote the most mundane one. This is why it’s so important to write the best thank you email after interview, regardless of what company you’re working for.

It doesn’t matter what kind of company you’re working for. If you’re working for a Fortune 500 company, or a small startup, or a big corporate giant, then of course you will need to put in extra effort to ensure that your note is different. Fortunately, this applies to everyone!

You can’t let other people’s familiarity with the company you’re interviewing with influence your ability to write a letter that stands out from the rest. For example, if you’re interviewing for a position as a project manager, or even a “senior analyst,” there’s no reason why you should be writing a thank you letter that’s the same as every other employee.

What’s more, there’s no reason why the things that make your company unique should be put in the least special way possible. I mean, your company could have been founded by a former flight attendant! The fact is, the company you’re interviewing with should have some significance on your part.

Something interesting, and perhaps unique, about your particular company might be something you should think about. That way, when you’re writing your thank you letter, you’ll add a personal touch.

For example, if your company has been providing employees with an in-house restaurant for years, you might want to thank them for that. That would be a thoughtful and unique gesture, which will reflect positively on you.

Additionally, it might also be interesting to express gratitude for their contribution to the community you work for. That’s how you can make your note a little more personal and memorable.

Finally, you might even feel free to give a little insight into your own self. Whether that’s a personal note about how you went through some tough times recently, or something that touches on your accomplishments during your employment with your current company, it’s always a good idea to include something that can reflect positively on you.

Thank you notes should be written carefully, in a way that people will remember. With a little extra planning, you can get the most out of your thank you letter.
