Marketing to Millennials is a challenge in today’s world. It isn’t that they aren’t smart. In fact, research indicates that they are better informed, but their busy lifestyles and high stress levels make it hard for them to stay abreast of what’s happening in the world around them.

I’m going to be upfront with you: there are going to be a few disadvantages associated with learning this kind of marketing. That being said, there are many advantages to be had. Here’s a look at some of the most noticeable.

The first advantage of marketing to Millennials is the ability to respond more quickly. Not only will they keep up with what’s going on around them, but the ability to give them quick responses will keep them coming back to you. It’s the best kind of sales. This is one advantage that cannot be overstated.

One of the disadvantages of marketing to Millennials is the tendency to rush things. You will quickly find yourself bombarded with emails from them wanting you to sign up for their free reports. They may also be offering a free webinar or product and you just don’t want to miss it. Again, that will cause you to give up on your other customers.

You have to be able to respond quickly because they’re so busy. We’ve found that most Millennials are not very organized. It’s no different than a lot of our customer base. It’s a challenge to keep up with their every move.

Benefits to marketers who are able to keep up with Millennials’ pace are less downtime and their ability to “attend” webinars that they may have missed because they were on other activities. They’ll be able to ask follow-up questions and possibly learn something valuable at the same time. And, we can still sell to them.

Disadvantages to marketers are the same as other generations. But, the advantages are definitely in favor of these marketers. If you make the effort to get with their busy lifestyle, it’s much easier to keep up with them. The benefits outweigh the disadvantages.

Your marketing efforts will increase when your marketing efforts are focused on them. You have to figure out ways to get a response from these prospects because they’re not going to do the same for you. They’re busy and you have to think outside the box to meet their needs.

Disadvantages to marketers are the same as other generations. But, there are more advantages than disadvantages for marketing to Millennials. Their preferences are a challenge but if you find a way to meet their needs, you can satisfy them. If you can combine learning the skills of marketing with marketing to Millennials, it is the best marketing experience we’ve ever had.

Finally, the disadvantages are all about what you expect to happen. They can come up, but if you know what you’re doing and you’re not worried about what can happen, then you’re well on your way to marketing to Millennials. So, you can focus on their needs and you can’t lose.
