As the marketing mix changes, so does the goal of marketing strategy. Some components have stayed relatively constant, but there is always a strategy for putting all of those components together. It’s important to understand what component changes.
How do you plan your strategy when you know the short-term and long-term direction? We have to make decisions in the middle of an idea, or close to one. There are enough components of the marketing mix that it is very hard to predict. It takes a combination of creativity on the part of the entrepreneur.
Going in too deep can result in burnout. Keep it simple and focus on creating good relationships with customers. You don’t want to spend a ton of time communicating to someone who isn’t interested in what you are offering.
Marketing becomes personal when customers get personal. Once you have a relationship with them, then it’s no longer about doing what is best for the company. When you learn to focus on the needs of your customers, then you can build a long-term strategy.
If you don’t understand the customer, you aren’t likely to create the product that they need. Your customers may already have something they want and you might be missing out. Customer is not just the number of customers you have. Customer is the contentment they experience with your products or services. You must engage your customers to be successful.
Customers should always have an option. You cannot make them buy your product if they don’t want it. Always have multiple options so that the customer can purchase based on what is most important to them.
Customers want value with their purchase. You want to offer something of value in exchange for their purchase. Value and experience are the two most important things to consider when choosing your strategy.
If you can’t find a way to achieve your long-term goal, then you don’t have a strategy. When marketing strategy changes, always look for how you can improve it. No one should be left behind.
To meet long-term business goals, you must be prepared for change. You must be able to move with the wind, rather than being stuck in a rut. Every day you spend in search of new strategies can mean the difference between success and failure.
Search for a new strategy every day. It’s OK to spend a little time each week reviewing what you have, so that you can develop a new plan for the future.
But the ideal situation is to spend a month trying to find the perfect combination of business strategies. Make it fun. The more the merrier!
